As I was preparing to move to Zambia and not knowing really what to expect, one of the songs that spoke to me was ‘I have decided to follow Jesus’ (the updated Hillsong version). On my first week in Zambia, feeling very much out of place, the cell group I went to decided to sing that very same song (the original version)! God’s hand has been evident in so many ways, and my testimony would very much be of God’s faithfulness as I have sought to follow him.
Last week I celebrated two years in Zambia! I can’t believe just how fast the time has gone. In some ways, it feels like yesterday when I arrived, but in other ways I can’t imagine anywhere else feeling like home. To mark the two year anniversary, I got up at 4am in order to make the 5 hour drive down to Lusaka and make it back in time for supper!
And now, looking forward, I have finished teaching at Fiwale Hill Bible College and am looking forward to the move to Kaniki Bible University College. I have a mountain of marking still to do for the Fiwale students but will be moving house in the next couple of weeks to Kaniki. The principal at Kaniki has asked me to develop the curriculum and help to raise the academic standards – a role I’m both daunted and excited by. Two years is also the expiry time on my work permit so a few visits are needed to the immigration office again, hence the trip to Lusaka.
Thankfully I have a few weeks to settle at Kaniki and get my head around the new job before next term starts. I’m so thankful for all who have encouraged and prayed – joining me on this journey here.
