Monthly Archives: July 2015

Just a few pictures from our trip to Livingstone. Victoria Falls is simply stunning and the photos don’t do it justice. We also had a day in Chobe National Park, Botswana, which was not too far.

Pastor’s Conference

Pastor’s gathered at Fiwale

The week before last Pastors from all over Zambia came back to Fiwale Hill Bible College for the annual alumni conference. Here at Fiwale we are training Pastors who will go and serve in Baptist churches in both town and rural context across Zambia. For the past few years, the alumni association has organised these conferences as an opportunity to input into the Pastors and reconnect with each other.

David preaching with Pastor Makule interpreting

For me it was a particularly special event as David Craig (retired Pastor from Bournemouth Community Church) came over from the UK to teach some of the sessions. The alumni had organised quite a packed programme – David was teaching on the Kingdom of God and a local missionary (Dr. Henry Holmgren) was teaching missiology. As is usual when these Pastors gather, there was a lot of great singing as well!

I think we all left encouraged and spiritually refreshed (I know I did), but also stirred and challenged about pressing into all God has for our churches here. Please do pray for the leaders of these churches as they face some significant challenges where they minister. Over the course of the week, we heard lots of stories from their communities – stories of syncretism with traditional religions and stories of false teachings.

After the conference, David and I spent a few days in Livingstone – photos coming in a later post! It was a massive encouragement to me personally to have David here and spend time together.
